It’s Friday — and time for GoAbroad’s Blog of the Week! This week’s selection is:
Paper Planes
Feeling a little lost? You aren’t alone. This week’s Blog of the Week, Paper Planes, embraces the concept of being a little lost, regardless of how old you are, and allowing it to feed your wanderlust. As blog creator, Alana, says about Paper Planes: “I haven’t traveled to as many places, worked as many jobs, have as great of photos, been traveling as long or lived in as many countries as other people. But I can share this journey of mine and hope that others may fulfill a bit of wanderlust or take something away from the places I’ve been and the lessons I’ve learned.” Combine this with the topics Paper Planes covers – from budget travel tips to what it’s like living as an expat in Thailand – and you can rest assured this is a travel blog you won’t want to miss!
Why We Love It
In 2011, Alana quit her 9-5 job to go travel and experience the world. She explains that she “wanted different stories, problems, discoveries and connections ‘before it was too late’.” Nearly two years later, Alana is still living abroad, planning her next move, and documenting each adventure on Paper Planes. Whether she’s discussing the re-entry process and culture shock, how to navigate a market in Chiang Mai, or simple ways to save money when living abroad, Paper Planes is successful in how it serves as a resource and inspiration to others to make the leap and travel abroad.
In Alana’s own words, “I’ve always been fascinated by other cultures, places, traditions, languages, and people. I love piecing a new place together, appreciating what makes it special, and seeing how different people live their lives. I also don’t have the slightest clue of where I want to be or what I want to be doing, so am using this time to figure that out.” Like we said before, if you’re feeling a bit lost yourself, Paper Planes is the blog you want to be reading!
